Litany

The Premise

Pick a character, open boosters, upgrade cards, and craft a powerful combination that breaks the numbers!

Unlike traditional deckbuilders focused on a single hero, in Litany you manage a small brotherhood. Each run requires assembling a party whose abilities complement each other through relics and trinkets. Positioning on the battlefield is crucial: row and column multipliers, permanent upgrades, and effects that play with the spatiality of the grid make the player approach the board as a constantly evolving puzzle, capable of reaching numbers that shouldn't be possible.

Narratively, the game plunges into a heavy dark fantasy atmosphere. The world of Litany is trapped in a curse of repetition, guarded by an immense sealed gate. Each attempt to advance reveals new distorted creatures and horrors that are reborn with each cycle. For the player, failure is not the end, but the path to unlocking new characters, cards, and secrets that make the next attempt even more chaotic and powerful.

History

Litany was born from the convergence of market research and our team's personal passions. The three of us have harbored a fascination with roguelike deckbuilders ever since we first got our hands on the iconic Slay the Spire. It was truly wonderful to witness the industry venturing in such interesting directions within this genre, which inspired us immensely to try creating something in our own unique style within this universe. Beyond all this passion, our experience playing board games also served as a major inspiration, driving us to pursue a genre that felt so familiar to us.

It's also important to highlight an insight that was spot-on in guiding us towards Litany: the idea of emphasizing the concept of "Engine Building" and not just the traditional Card Game concept. While a more traditional deckbuilder focuses on presenting synergies and combos that gradually open up a range of possibilities and flexibility in battles, the concept of Engine Building revolves heavily around the idea of "building an efficient 'score' machine."

Features
  • Chaos and Reward: Feel the satisfaction of watching the system spiral out of control. Build decks that scale exponentially and unleash chain reactions so powerful they seem impossible. In Litany, uncontrolled chaos isn't a mistake, it's the path to victory.

  • Squad Leader: Take command of 6 distinct characters, each with unique mechanics and playstyles. As the guild master, it is up to you to decide how these units are positioned and how their abilities intertwine to turn the tide in the most critical moments.

  • Dynamic Boards: The battlefield is alive. Use strategic positioning and row and column multipliers to amplify your attacks and survive the relentless assaults of creatures from the darkness.

  • Deep Progression: Unlock hundreds of cards and shop upgrades, ensuring that every new run offers fresh tools for experimentation.

  • Dark Fantasy Aesthetic: A visually striking universe, focused on an atmosphere of tension and mystery, where each victory brings the party closer to breaking fate.
